A 12V 100Ah battery stores about 1,200Wh of energy. To estimate runtime, divide this by your average load in watts. For example, a 100W load (lights, fridge, router, small devices) can run for roughly 10–12 hours on a quality LiFePO₄ battery like LiTime, which offers more usable capacity than an equivalent lead-acid battery.
For most off-grid solar systems, LiFePO₄ batteries are the best choice. Compared with lead-acid, lithium ion deep cycle batteries offer longer cycle life, higher usable capacity, faster charging, lighter weight, and lower maintenance, making them ideal for daily charging and discharging in solar setups.
When off grid solar batteries are full, a properly set solar charge controller will stop or taper the charging current to protect the battery. With LiTime LiFePO₄ batteries, the built-in BMS works together with the controller to prevent overcharge, so excess solar power is simply not stored once the battery reaches 100% state of charge.
For 1 day of off-grid use, start by estimating your daily energy consumption in kWh (add up the wattage of the appliances you want to run × hours of use). Then match that number with the total usable capacity of your battery bank. As a simple guide:
● LiTime 12V 100Ah LiFePO₄: Max 4S4P, up to 20.48kWh usable per day
● LiTime 12V 200Ah LiFePO₄ : Max 40.96kWh Energy usable per day
