    FAQ

Q: Can I use the battery to start the car engine?

    A:

    A:

Important: Please DO NOT use this battery as a starter battery for any type of vehicle, including cars, motorcycles, tractors, etc.

For optimal use of the battery, please observe the following safety precautions:

    1. Starting Battery: This battery is not intended for use as a cranking battery in any vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, trucks, etc.
    2. Engine Compatibility: It is unsuitable for engines (like outboard motors) that utilize a charging coil rather than an alternator.
    3. Mounting Requirements: When using in marine starting equipment (such as fuel outboard engines) or in vibrating environments, ensure the battery is securely mounted. It should not be used in areas with severe vibrations, such as tractors.
    4. Secure Fastening: Ensure the battery is fastened securely when used with outboard engines or in unstable environments to prevent damage from movement.
    5. Cable Length Considerations: Position the battery as close to the outboard motor as possible, as varying cable lengths can result in voltage loss, typically between 3% and 10%. If the voltage drop exceeds this range, reduce the total cable length.
    6. Protection Rating: The 12V 140Ah marine cranking battery features an IP67 protection rating. To avoid potential issues, do not fully submerge it in bilge water. To prevent exposure to water, it is advisable to install the battery in a waterproof battery container and/or place it in an elevated position.

Q: Can I connect the dual purpose marine battery in sereis or parallel?

    A:

    A:

Yes, you can connect the battery in sereis and parallel. But here are some limitations to follow:

    1. For Starting and Deep Cycle:

Support connecting up to 4 identical batteries in parallel for up to:12V(12.8V) 560Ah battery system.

Note: It can be only connected in parallel instead of series connection.

    2. For ONLY Energy Storage

Support connecting up to 16 identical batteries for up to:4 in series as 48V (51.2V) battery system or 4 in parallel as 560Ah battery system.

To connect in series or parallel, batteries should meet the below conditions:

    a. identical batteries with the same battery capacity (Ah) and BMS (A);

    b. from the same brand (as lithium battery from different brands has their special BMS);

    c. purchased in near time (within one month).

Q: What should I do when I receive the battery?

    A:

    A:

Upon receiving your battery, please be aware that it may have a low State of Charge (SOC) due to transportation and storage. To ensure optimal performance, we recommend charging the battery immediately to prevent over-discharge.

Fully charge the battery with battery charger for LiFePO4 lithium  before first use. Battery voltage lower than 11.5V will not be able to start motors. For the 12V 140Ah dual-purpose starting battery, you can monitor the battery capacity and voltage via the Bluetooth feature on your phone when under load for an extended period. Ensure that the voltage does not drop below 11.5V.

The duration of a single start cannot exceed 3 seconds. When the primary ignition fails, wait for 15 seconds beforerestarting. If the motor still cannot be started after three ignitions, checkfor other causes and wait 5 minutes before igniting again.

For Bluetooth batteries, they may arrive in an off state, showing a virtual voltage of 3V to 5V at the terminals. This is normal and can be rectified by using an AC-DC LiFePO4 lithium battery charger or an MPPT solar charge controller to charge the battery for 3 to 10 seconds, which will activate it for normal use.

If you intend to store the battery for an extended period without use, charge it to a SOC between 30% and 50% and perform maintenance every three months. This practice will help maintain its functionality and performance over time.

Q: How to charge the battery?

    A:

    A:

The LiTime 12V 140Ah dual-purpose battery can be charged in three different ways:

    1. Solar Panels and Controller

    · Recommended Solar Power: >600W

o The battery can be fully charged in one day with 600W solar panels, assuming effective sunlight for about 4.5 hours.

o Charging may take longer than one day if sunlight duration or intensity is less than optimal.

    · Recommended Charging Current:

o 28A (0.2C): Fully charges the battery in approximately 5 hours.

o 70A (0.5C): Fully charges the battery in about 2 hours.

    · Charging Mode: 12V (14.6V) LI (LiFePO4)

    2. Battery Charger

    · Use a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery charger to maximize capacity.

    · Recommended Charging Voltage: Between 14.2V and 14.6V

    · Recommended Charging Current:

o 28A (0.2C): Fully charges the battery in approximately 5 hours.

o 70A (0.5C): Fully charges the battery in about 2 hours.

Tip: It’s advisable to disconnect the charger from the battery once charging is complete.

    3. Alternator/Generator

The LiTime battery can also be charged using an alternator or generator.

o If the alternator/generator supports DC output, a DC-to-DC charger should be placed between the battery and the generator.

o If it supports AC output, refer to the "Battery Charger" section above for appropriate charger recommendations.

    · Recommended Charging Voltage: Between 14.2V and 14.6V

    · Recommended Charging Current:

o 28A (0.2C): Fully charges the battery in approximately 5 hours.

o 70A (0.5C): Fully charges the battery in about 2 hours.

By utilizing these charging methods, you can efficiently maintain the performance and longevity of your LiTime 12V 140Ah battery.

    Q: Is LiTime 12V 140Ah marine dual-purpose battery safe?

    A:
